For these new paintings, I thought I would introduce them going from south to north, just for fun. We are starting in PB and ending up at Blacks. I hope you like them.
“Law Street”
Watercolor 12 x 17” $550
I am always looking for different places to paint. I don’t surf in PB very much, so I don’t go there as often as other spots, but all the elements for good paintings can be found there too.
“Tourmaline”
Watercolor 12 x 17” $550
Late afternoon, low tide rising, and a small glassy day. There will be fun waves everywhere on days like this - just pick your spot.
“Birdrock Again”
Watercolor 12 x 17” $550
This is a lot like another painting I did of Birdrock. Small differences in color and foreground water. I like them both, but this one worked out a little bit better. Maybe I’ll try and enhance the first BR painting. And I think I’ll keep going to this spot for further inspiration. There is a lot of good stuff here
“Windansea Sunset”
Watercolor 10 x 16” $450
I’ll never tire of spending time at Windansea. I love the warm summer evening feel in this painting. The water was really warm, and the air was still. What a nice evening
“Pumphouse”
Watercolor 12 x 16”
I looked through some old photos I have for a new project for my watercolor class. This painting has a lot of really nice elements for demonstrating and teaching watercolor. The big sky, the small peninsula in the background and ocean in the middle ground, with the shack and rocks n the foreground. I really liked seeing all the different interpretations that the students in my class came up with. And I liked my painting too.
“Silver Almond”
Watercolor 12 x 16” $525
I did this painting with my more advanced students. It is a way more challenging painting to do than the Windansea one. All the colors needed to relate to each other in this one - the sky and water and cliffs and reflections. And more control needed to be exercised with the wet into wet portions. It was a good learning experience and we practiced some good techniques.
“The Takeoff”
Watercolor 12 x 17” $550
A small day at Blacks and no one trying to get your wave. I love surfing without crowds. I love it. Even if that means smaller waves. I would surf this wave 5 million times and have fun each time. Chest high and glassy - so ripable.
